An excerpt from a letter received after the spring 2010 scholarship grant program...

“...we are a small lodge of mostly old members
in a rural area. Our school is very small and our students don’t get much help. Thank you for helping a deserving young person get an opportunity to go to college.”

What is TMCF?

The Texas Masonic Charities Foundation, Inc. a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation, is the primary charitable organization affiliated with the Grand Lodge of Texas. While the Foundation feels a special responsibility for the care of our members and their families, it also provides support to people with no connection with the Masonic Fraternity. The Texas Masonic Charities Foundation works with local Masonic Lodges to help distribute funds.

TMCF continues a program started in 2007 which allows businesses and individuals to support local lodge programs with tax deductable contributions to TMCF that are designated to specific charities.

The Lesson of Charity

The date on the articles of incorporation of the Texas Masonic Charities Foundation (TMCF) is December 16, 2004. Masonry came to the territory now known as Texas in the early 1800’s with the first scouts and settlers and with them came the fraternal obligation to Charity.

Throughout the war for Independence, the birth of a new nation as the Republic of Texas, statehood, the Confederacy, and all the challenges since, the Masons of Texas have continued their commitment to those in need. From those meager beginnings and for the next 180 years, Masonry has thrived and been an integral part of the lives of a unique people who have become known throughout the world as ‘Texans’.

Masonry and Masonic charities daily touch the lives of many Texans, and this contact often occurs without the slightest knowledge of the recipient. Unverified
estimates put the dollar value of Masonic Charity in the US at $2 million per DAY.

The Texas Masonic Charities Foundation is the vehicle that local lodges can use today to compound their efforts at the local level to continue the tradition of charity to the new society of the 21st Century.

Our Motto

Faith, Hope, Charity - Masonic Charities Helping People.

The Concept

Lodges - Focal Point of Masonic Charities. When the TMCF obtains the necessary capital to create sufficient interest returns, the intent is to budget some charitable funds for each Lodge to use each year. The Lodge's charity must be approved by the TMCF Board, and the allocated funds can only be spent for that approved charity.

Wildfire Relief Assistance

The Texas Masonic Charities Foundation is assisting Texas Masons and their families who have been affected by the recent wildfires of 2011. Two types of assistance are available, emergency, to meet immediate needs, and long term, for other needs.
